Disabilities Blog

July 8, 2020      Today I will be talking about the presentation that occurred a few weeks ago. These presentations were about disabilities, like cognitive, invisible, and other types of disabilities. They was 3 groups total, I was in group 3, the final group to present. Group one was about mobility, spinal, and head disabilities. Group 2 was based on visual and hearing disabilities. My group was based on cognitive, invisible, and psychological disabilities. My job was based stating the struggles children and adults might face throughout their life with a cognitive disability. I was also tasked with stating the American and World views.      Group 1 was the first to present, they were tasked with mobility, spinal, and head disabilities. Group 1's introduction was about mobility, spinal, and head disabilities. They defined what every disability was and they gave examples for each one. They also explained how these disabilities influence an individual's life and how they can

Throughout the time I was to make My Experience Learning about Mental Health Disabilities By Jennifer Fernandez  my portion of the disabilities presentation I was able to make a lot of interesting and useful discoveries. My topic of research was anxiety and depression. I feel like my generation has a lot of anxiety and depression growing up and it's very important for everyone to be informed on how to catch signs of these disabilities and how to help both others and yourself. I'm very glad to have been a part of this presentation to raise awareness for disabilities especially my particular subgroup focused on psychological disabilities. My group consisted of both Amanda and Katie who focused on post-traumatic stress disorders, psychosis, and eating disorders to name a few.   I was able to find out the risks of undiagnosed depression and anxiety which in extreme cases can lead to the loss of a loved one. It's very important to be able to notice signs

Hey guys welcome back to my blog! Today's topic will be covering the  presentations that took place in SPC1017 this past week. This project/speech was more time consuming and elaborate than the previous chapter 3,9,10 presentations. In my opinion, it was also more interesting and much more useful in the long wrong. Once again for this project we were split up in groups and luckily, we were able to remain in our previous groups for better comfort. The three groups received different topics with group 1 focusing on Mobility, spinal and head disabilities. Group 2 focused on hearing and visual disabilities, and Group 3 did invisible, cognitive, and psychological disabilities. The project components and requirements were to make a PowerPoint and present a speech going over the subtopics, turning in a poster and a brochure.    To start off I would like to say, I think every group did an outstanding job. I surely learned about disabilities, circumstances and treatments I had never heard b

Hello, this blog will discuss the last presentation we did in class concerning disabilities. The overall purpose of this assignment was to raise awareness and gain more knowledge about a topic that many are not familiar with. This can be a tricky subject to address as some points may come out offensive if not addressed and talked about properly. There were many components to this assignment besides a powerpoint, which included: interviews, research, an agenda, a poster, a brochure, and a study guide. At first, this seemed a bit overwhelming but as I started to do some research about the subject, the information seemed very interesting and useful. There are a lot of disabilities out there and they were divided among the class groups so more information could be found about them. First thing I want to do is give some feedback to the classmates who were not in my group. Group 1 talked about Mobility, Spinal & Head Disabilities. I think they presented their information very well and th

Disability Presentation Blog                                                                                   Amanda Rodriguez                                              Raising awareness of different types of disabilities and how they impact lives is important for several reasons.  People who don’t have a disability or know anyone who is disabled might not be aware of what it is like to live with a disability or the challenges that can be encountered on a daily basis. Educating people on these different types of disabilities would allow for the world to be accessible for all, which is why this project is so beneficial to us. This project opened my eyes to the different types of disabilities that we may not even be able to see.  In order to successfully complete this project we divided our group into smaller groups, with each member focusing on a specific disability, ensuring we explain it thoroughly and effec

Today I will be writing a blog about our presentations regarding disabilities. I was really interested in this presentation because it allowed me to learn about different disabilities in depth and gain more knowledge about how to help people in these situations. I was also kind of nervous about how I would present my ideas for this project. I wanted to make sure that how or what I said did not come across as offensive to some people and I wanted to make sure the information was accurate.           Group 1’s presentation was about mobility, spinal, and head disabilities. They explained what each disability was and they gave examples for each type. They also described how these disabilities affect a person's life and how they can get these types of disabilities. I felt that they did a really good job presenting but I do feel that they should have tried to keep a cohesive theme throughout their powerpoint and that they could have added more pictures or less writing per slide

Good Evening, in today’s blog I will be going over the second presentation created by our speech class this semester. The presentations this week were focusing on the many disabilities that people experience. It was interesting to look into all the different disabilities that may not be visible to the naked eye. During our presentation, my group covered cognitive, invisible, and psychological disabilities. There are many disabilities that cause chronic pain and can be debilitating. I spoke about chronic pain, chronic dizziness, and chronic fatigue during our presentation. When people hear the word “disability” they often think about physical limits like someone in a wheelchair, but there are so many disorders that do not always show themselves when you are just looking at a person from the outside. Disabilities like anxiety and disorder are psychological disorders that affect people’s lives to the point where they may not be able to function properly. These kinds of disabilities

Blog #2: Theme Presentations

In this blog I am going to be talking about our group presentation for the themes. In this case, we had to talk about disabilities and how they were related to some of the book chapters. I will be talking about my group, how we interacted with each other and planned our presentation, and the results of our work. All this has been a new experience for all of us, since remote learning started because of the new pandemic coronavirus, and some of us are not too familiar with this online schooling.      First, we started texting in the group chat  about the role of each person and figuring who was going to do each thing in the slides. We divided ourselves into mini groups. The disabilities that we had to talk about were: cognitive disabilities, psychological disabilities, and invisible disabilities. Me and Martina chose invisible disabilities. I did a big research about all the invisible disabilities that exist and found it very interesting to learn all of that. Some of them include anxi
