Chapter 3, 9, 10

My goal throughout this blog is to critic all the group presentations and state my personal opinions on how each one did. I personally was a bit timid about the presentation to begin with because I wasn’t well acquainted with anyone in the group. However, come to think of it everyone in the group could not have been more supportive and helpful. We were truly and honestly able to creative a very healthy and productive creative atmosphere and I can honestly say I am very happy with what my group was able to accomplish and the connections we’ve managed to make between us. Group one spoke about intercultural communications. They talked about how important intercultural communications can be in today’s world especially living in the united states where diversity is encouraged. Every culture has its own customs and rules and slang what could be offensive to someone else might not necessarily be offensive to you. I think group one did an excellent job presenting this and made it very clea

Chapters 3, 9, and 10 Presentations Summarized.

In this post I will be talking about the presentations that my class did for our speech class. My group was in charged of Chapter 10, so we were the last group of all the groups. I was really happy that I was able to be in a group with some of my friends, especially with Jorge since we are cousins, and we worked together for the presentation. Usually I'm not nervous when presenting so I was just calm during everything and whenever I needed to speak up, I would. Overall I was pretty relaxed with the presentation and It was generally easy to find the information for the presentation.       The first group was sent to present chapter 3, which was about intercultural communication. In my opinion their presentation was good, however of course each presentation has its flaws. I believe a large flaw was that everyone did seperate little seperate presentations instead of one large presentation in which people would just speak one after the other. I do think some time was wasted as p

Hey Guys! As you probably guessed by the title, in todays blog I will be focusing on the presentations taken place in the first couple weeks of June. This summer term I decided to take SPC1017 as an online course. Although the transition has not been easy, I am more than grateful to the professor for putting in her best efforts. A good method she included in her ways to teach the class was by having the students split up into three groups, in each group, a different chapter was assigned. This way, we heard the most important parts of a chapter from students like ourselves and at the same time, the components of speaking infant of people and communicating was taken place. Group 1 was assigned chapter 3, Group 2 chapter 9, and group 3 chapter 10.            First up was Group 1 introducing chapter 3. Their presentation focused on culture and communication, cultural identity, dominant cultures, how some cultures can be different, and developing intercultural communication compet

In this blog I will be talking about the presentations that occurred last week in my speech class. I was so excited to work with my group because I knew a couple people so it was a bit easier for me to talk to other people. I was also excited and nervous before my presentation because I didn’ t know the majority of the class. But when it came to present I saw that it wasn’t as bad as it seemed. It was nice to see the creative liberties each group took when creating their powerpoints and overall the groups did an amazing job.  Group one was the first to present their project. They talked about intercultural communication which is very important in today's world because we are surrounded by people with different cultures and customs and it's good to know how you should communicate with different people. Although, I do feel that they should have only used one powerpoint to save time and they should have condensed the information a bit in order to make the slides easier for

Hello, this blog will be going over our first presentation that my class did for our speech class. All of the students in our class were split into three groups, so that we may all cover a different chapter. Group one went over chapter three Intercultural Communication, group two went over chapter nine Communicating in groups, and last my group went over chapter ten Group leadership and problem solving.  I was really happy that my chapter was about leadership and problem solving because I just got out of the military and leadership plays a very important roll in your military service. Overall, I was pleased with assignment, and I did not find it to be very difficult for our first presentation, hopefully the rest of the semester is the same. As stated above group one presented first and they covered chapter three. They spoke about culture and communication, dominant cultures, co-cultures, and cultural identity, how cultures differ, and developing intercultural communic

Speech Blog Amanda Rodriguez

Amanda Rodriguez              In this blog I will share my viewpoint on each of the presentations as well as what I learned from them. Usually I am extremely nervous to speak in front of of the class but since we are all at home and I had my friends in the class with me, I felt more confident in my presentation. I am looking forward to what our professor has in store for the rest of the semester.     The first group spoke about Chapter 3:  intercultural communication. Their presentation consisted of culture communication , dominant cultures, co-cultures, cultural identity and how cultures differ. The United States is a multicultural society therefore, it is imperative that each of us learn how to effectively communicate with different cultures. One small flaw I saw from group 3 were that some slides had paragraphs of writing; it would have been better to incorporate more images into the presentation.   Next presentation was on Chapter 9 : Communicating in Groups. They ex

Hello, this blog is going to be focusing on our first presentation in SPC1017. I will basically be giving feedback on my classmate’s presentations and provide some other details about the whole process. To begin, our class was split into three groups and each was assigned a chapter. Each person had to do at least three slides and include a few words with some pictures and graphs that went along with their assigned section. I was nervous in the beginning as this is my first semester in MDC and I have never really presented in front of or worked with people I am not familiar with. However, my nerves went away as soon as I realized that everyone had respect for each other and everyone was very committed to the assignment. Group 1 was assigned chapter 3, Intercultural Communication. They spoke about dominant cultures, co-cultures, and cultural identity and how they all interrelate with each other. They were the first group to present and I was very impressed with their presentation. They

Blog # 1: Chapters 3, 9, and 10 Presentations

In this blog I will be sharing to my classmates my opinion on the presentations that we had last week during class. I want to start off by saying that I am very surprised at how awesome the groups did, in general. Although this is only the second week of class and sadly I cannot get to see my classmates in person, I feel like if I have known them for months. Honestly, I was a little nervous even though I knew nobody was going to see me. I have always been a little shy, and the simple fact that everyone has to be hearing my voice for more than one minute makes me nervous. Also, I have an accent and that makes it even worse.Working in teams is a very great way to communicate our ideas.                                via GIPHY                               The first group of our class presented chapter one of our textbook and did a great job as well as the rest of the students in the class. This chapter is about intercultural communication. The individuals in this gro
